The shaggy-looking, cylindrical clusters of greenish-cream flowers open from the base of the spike and have quite a long period of interest. The hairy, pinnate leaves will often take on shades of red when hit by an autumn frost before they die down. It is perfect for lighting up a late summer garden and looks brilliant in naturalised planting schemes or mixed herbaceous beds.
