De vruchten zijn blauwpaars en berijpt. Ze zijn vrij zuur maar heel geschikt voor jam, siroop en gebak. Van het blad kun je thee zetten.

Description:
The fruit and leaves of the plant are edible, with the leaves being used either fresh or dried as an herbal tea. The fruit themselves are succulent and edible. However, they are very tart, even when completely ripe and may not suit all tastes. However, they can be turned into jams and sauces, and make excellent substitutes for blackberries in cobblers, muffins and pies.
