Smaak lijkt op anijs. De knol kan in rauwkost worden verwerkt, maar ook worden gekookt of gestoofd. Het fijne blad is een toekruid en lekker bij visgerechten.

White bulbs with an enticing and traditional aniseed flavour. The foliage makes a tasty addition to salads or as an attractive garnish. With a multitude of uses, fennel can even be used as a compress for softening rough chapped hands, or for treating numerous ailments.

Sowing instructions: Direct sow fennels seeds outdoors from March to July into well prepared soil in full sun when temperatures reach around 13-18 Celsius. Sow seeds thinly into drills 1c m deep and 38 cm apart. Make regular sowings for a successional harvest.

Planting instructions: somewhat moist, light soil. No extra feeding. Full sun.
