Beschrijving:

Kuipplant. Bloeit spectaculair, net voordat de bladeren gevormd worden. Daarna zwarte peulen met prachtige, kleine, oranje zaden. Trekt insecten aan.

Winterhard in: zones 9-11 (5 Celsius)

Zaai-instructies: Kiemt in 10-15 dagen bij 22C. Week in warm water. Zaden die zwellen meteen zaaien. Zaden die dat niet doen voorzichtig inkerven.

Plant-instructies: zeer goed doorlatende grond in volle zon.

Waarschuwing: scherpe stekels, zaden zijn giftig.

Description:

The flowers are a beautiful clear scarlet and are carried in short, dense heads on long, thick stalks. The flowers produce abundant nectar that attracts many nectar-feeding birds and insects, which attract the insect-feeding birds as well.

Sowing instructions: seeds will usually germinate in 10-15 days. Sow seeds about 13mm deep in a peaty seed sowing mix at about 22 Celsius. Soak seeds in warm water, which should be changed daily. Most seeds swell up when they are soaked, those that do should be sown immediately. Seeds that don't swell can be gently scarified
