This is a very attractive small palm. Its fronds have a silver or blue cast that nicely contrasts with its chocolate brown stem. After flowering it carries trusses of steely green, oliveshaped fruits. If the boots are properly pruned and shaped, it is a fantastic addition to any landscape - a true conversation piece.
Height: 6 m.
Flowers: aug-sep
Type: TTr
Hardy in: zones 9-11 (5 C)
Sowing instructions: germinate in about 30-45 days if the harvest is ripe. To hasten germination, are advised to remove the exocarp and mesocarp and clean seeds soaking in water at normal temperature for 5-7 days. Sow in peat or sand in seedbeds of not less than 10 cm deep. The recommended temperature is between 25-30 Celsius
Planting instructions: in loamy and hard soils, the trunk will become thin, high and gray. When the palm grows in low lands and inundate soils, its trunk is thick, short, stubbled and somewhat spongy. Water plant well.
