Description:
Now, here's something rather different to ornament your border this summer! From tropical America, it is a most interesting and very showy plant with erect stems, deeply lobed leaves and sepals all ornamentally adorned with many yellow or orange spines. Extraordinarily freely flowering, it bears numerous clusters of pale blue or white flowers, each an inch and a half or so across. These are followed by bright red fruits which, it is said, can be used for making jam when harvested fully ripe. It also makes a splendid plant for flowering in pots in your conservatory - put them outside on the patio as a conversation point

Sowing instructions: will usually germinate in 10-21 days, even under good conditions germination may be erratic. Sow seeds about 13mm deep in a peaty seed sowing mix at about 20 Celsius. Keep the compost slightly moist
